Brechin City continue their search for their first Championship win of the season when they visit Dumbarton, with manager Darren Dods still cursing what happened on his side’s last visit there back in September.
“We should have had our first win away back then,” said Dods.
“We played really well and were one goal up well into the second half. However Aron Lynas got sent off and we lost two late goals. It still rankles with me that all the talk of our first win could have been avoided months ago.
“To make matters worse when they came to our place a few months later they won 1-0 with an injury time own goal when the ball hit off Willie Dyer. Rather than taking four points from Dumbarton we have ended up with none and that has helped build the gap between the sides.”
Dods added: “Dumbarton have been the best part-time team in Scotland for the past six years and they will want to hold onto that title. However to give ourselves the best chance of getting that from them then we need to start winning games and this would be a great one to get three points.
“We started badly against Queen of the South last weekend and that cost us a couple of goals. Stephen Dobbie is a fantastic talent however he is an even better player if you stand off him and allow him space. Unfortunately that is what we did and we paid a heavy price.
“However we finished strongly and it was good to see Callumn Morrison mark his debut with a goal. If we can start off as we finished in Dumfries then we will give ourselves a chance of getting the win that keeps Dumbarton in sight.”
