Brechin’s squad will once again be down to the bare bones for this afternoon’s trip to Hampden to face Queen’s Park with at least five players missing through injury and suspension.
City were knocked out of the Scottish Cup on Tuesday night by Ayr United with Ally Love becoming the latest to suffer from the injury jinx in the narrow 1-0 defeat.
Glebe gaffer Darren Dods admitted that game against the Championship side took a lot out of his players but he insists at this important stage of the season his remaining fit players will simply have to battle on.
He said: “Ally Love has hurt his ankle. It is quite swollen and he is probably no better than 50/50.
“James Dale has hurt the cartilage in his knee and we will need to send him for a scan.
“But it looks like he will be out for a while which is a big blow as he has played every game for us so far this season and has done well in midfield.
“Chris O’Neil is still out with his hamstring while Paul McLean serves the second game of his two-match suspension.
“Andy Jackson is probably about a week away but Finn Graham will return to the squad and Alan Trouten trained on Thursday night and he will be on the bench.
“There weren’t many training in total but we can’t take any chances with so many injured especially as we have another week coming up where we will be playing Tuesday and Saturday.
“It is a busy period and we will just have to get through it.
“I have been trying to bring players in on loan but it is proving difficult.
“It will also be tough against Queen’s Park on a big pitch.
“The lads worked really hard in midweek against Ayr and they will have to do that again against the Spiders – hopefully with a different result this time.”
