Brechin boss Darren Dods waiting for players’ scan results

Brechin's Andy Jackson.
Brechin's Andy Jackson.

Brechin boss Darren Dods faces another anxious wait this week to discover the full extent of injuries suffered by some of his players.

The Glebe gaffer has certainly not had his troubles to seek recently with his squad down to the bare bones.

Dods only had five fit subs including himself available for last weekend’s game against Peterhead.

Now he is waiting for news on players including striker Andy Jackson who could be facing a “worst-case scenario” of having his broken toe reset.

Dods said: “Andy’s toe is healing but it seems to be at a funny angle.

“He has been wearing flip-flops but he will try to get a trainer or a boot on later this week and we will take things from there.

“It has been really frustrating for him as he was out previously with a damaged tendon in his foot.

“Fingers crossed he can push on now but the worst-case scenario is that he has to go back into hospital to have the toe broken and reset.

“Euan Smith will have his knee scanned later this week and the physio is hoping it will show there is damage to the medial ligament rather than the cruciate.

“If that is the case, then he is probably looking at being out for three months rather than nine.

“James Dale will also have a scan to see how much cartilage damage he has suffered.

“Hopefully, though we can start getting one or two back like Chris O’Neil and Darren McCormack and maybe bring players in on loan.

“Dougie Hill is suspended for Saturday’s game at Albion Rovers so if Darren doesn’t make it I may have to start myself for the first time this season.”
