East Fife boss Barry Smith is hoping it will be third time lucky when his side play Queen’s Park this afternoon at Hampden.
The Methil men are currently on a 10-game unbeaten run but they had been defeated twice by Gus MacPherson’s Spiders already this season before Smith took charge at Bayview.
Indeed, East Fife’s last loss came away back on November 19 against this afternoon’s opponents.
Smith is now looking for his side to get back to winning ways after last week’s 0-0 draw at home to Stranraer.
The manager said: “Overall, it was probably a good point for us last week. You obviously want to win all your home games but Stranraer came to Bayview lifted by the appointment of a new manager.
“We did not create as many chances as we would have liked but it was a fairly even game and we will take the point.
“The result kept our good run going and we also kept a clean sheet which shows again how well we are defending at the moment.
“We have added Luke Watt on loan from Motherwell this week as we needed another right-back following Scott Mercer’s departure to Queen of the South.
“I have watched him a few times and have been really impressed by him. He will be in the squad for Saturday along with Ben Reilly as a trialist.
“We know we are in for a really tough game against Queen’s Park.
“Gus has done a brilliant job there and got them promoted from fourth spot in League 2.
“They have beaten East Fife twice already this season so we are fully aware of the danger they possess.
“However, the boys are full of confidence because of the great run we are on and it is always great to play at Hampden.
“But of course, it will only be fully enjoyable if we take three points.”
Smith has an injury doubt for the game but the manager was keeping his cards close to his chest on the player’s identity.
