Brechin City feeling the benefit of home comforts

Darren Dods is hoping his Brechin City side will continue to feel the benefit of home comforts.

The Angus team ended a six-game winless run at Glebe Park in midweek, with a comeback victory over Queen’s Park.

And their sights are now set on getting another three points on their own turf against in-form Alloa this afternoon to further strengthen their bid to get back in the play-off places.

“I’m really pleased that we’re playing at home again,” admitted Dods.

“I’m sure it was a factor in our win on Tuesday night.

“The boys are glad to get back here and the fact that the pitch has dried out a lot since we had last played on it helped as well.

“We’ve got 11 games left and six of them are at home. We’ll be looking to take advantage of that.”

Prior to Tuesday, the last time Brechin had won was against Alloa, way back on Christmas Eve.

“Alloa will be a confident team after winning their last three matches,” Dods said.

“But you could see the belief growing in our side after we took the lead in midweek. The boys showed real character.”

A big factor in Brechin’s push for promotion could be the return to fitness and form of former St Johnstone striker Andy Jackson.

Dods said: “That’s three goals in the last four games since he came back from injury.

“He’s starting to get his sharpness back.

“Andy probably should have got another goal, after he had one disallowed at Stranraer which should have stood.”

Alan Trouten returns from suspension this afternoon.
