Arbroath boss Dick Campbell concerned about game against Stranraer side with little to lose

Bobby Linn is a doubt for the game.
Bobby Linn is a doubt for the game.

Arbroath will face a Stranraer side at home this afternoon with little but pride to play for – and that factor is something which is concerning Gayfield gaffer Dick Campbell.

The Red Lichties are still sitting in third place in the League 1 table – two points ahead of Alloa –following their win last week against Albion Rovers.

The Angus outfit fell behind at Cliftonhill but ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Omar Kader and Ryan Wallace.

Now they will look to extend their three-game unbeaten run against Stranraer who are sitting becalmed in mid table, nine points adrift of the promotion play-off spots and 11 away from the drop zone.

Campbell is determined to ease further away from Alloa and has not given up hopes of catching a faltering Raith Rovers side in second.

The manager said: “It was a good win for us on the road last week with the boys deserving loads of credit for coming from behind to win the game.

“It showed once again the character we have in the squad and it keeps us securely in the play-off spots.

“I do not envisage many changes for the Stranraer game although Blair Yule will definitely miss out while Bobby Linn has been suffering from flu all week and is doubtful.

“We will look to continue our good form against Stranraer on Saturday.

“However, they have nothing to play for as they are not involved in the promotion or relegation play-off positions and that concerns me.

“They will have no pressure on them but as ever it is up to us and what we do on the day that is important.

“We want to cement our place in third but we have definitely not given up hope of catching Raith in second.

“There is still loads to play for this season.”
