After a fruitful week of off-field signing activity for the club, Arbroath boss Dick Campbell is now looking for his players to take care of business on the pitch against Stenhousemuir today.

The Gayfield gaffer awarded contract extensions to Tam O’Brien and Ricky Little that will keep them at the club until May, 2021 while veteran Gavin Swankie has penned a deal until May, next year.

The League 1 leaders also paid a fee for 22-year-old striker Luke Donnelly from League 1 rivals Stranraer with another unnamed player set to sign possibly as soon as this weekend.

Now, though, Campbell who will be back in the dug-out today for the first time since serving an eight-game touchline ban, is fully focused on the game against bottom-of-the-table Stenny – and he has warned his players that they better have their ear-muffs at the ready if he believes they are not reaching the high standards they have set so far this season.

Campbell said: “I have been delighted with the business we have done this week.

“It was great to get Gavin, Ricky and Tam signed up on new deal.

“They all fully deserve the contracts and we now have most of our players including the likes of Bobby Linn tied up.

“Luke Donnelly is a player I have admired for a while and he will bring something different to what we have at the moment.

“He is about 6ft 3in but is also a very technically-gifted front man.

“So it is great to have him on board and I might play him from the start at Stenhousemuir.”

Campbell added: “I will have 18 players at my disposal for the first time this season which is a big plus.

“Stenny may be bottom of the league but I will be stressing to my players that they will be ready with the biggest custard pie for us if we fall into the trap of taking anything for granted.

“My touchline ban has now ended so I will be back in the dug-out for the first time in weeks and I have warned my players they better buy some ear-muffs!”
