Montrose boss has five new players available

Paul Hegarty has five new players added to his Montrose squad for the visit of Cowdenbeath today, and at least two are set to start.

Since the 2-2 draw with Annan, Cammy Ballantyne, Jonny Court, David McKay, Scott Hynd and Callum MacDonald have arrived at Links Park.

And Hegarty is hoping that their presence will add to the confidence in his side which was already boosted by their comeback point last time out.

He said: “Those lads have brought a bit of freshness and competition for places.

“At least two changes will be made from our last starting line-up.

“It’s important we get our first win sooner rather than later.

“Our last game seems like an eternity ago and the boys gave themselves an uphill task when we were two behind at half-time.

“But it was a good comeback and we could have won it in the end.

“The players are a conscientious group and hopefully they’ll get the win they deserve against Cowdenbeath.”

The Blue Brazil lost 5-3 to Clyde in their last match and manager Liam Fox said: “The Clyde game was frustrating and the break caused by the international games added to that frustration.

“It is great that we create as many chances as we do but we cannot allow teams to create just as many if not more.

“We have used the time we have had over the past couple of weeks to work on our defence and hopefully we will see some benefits at Montrose.”

Gerry McLauchlan is available, as is on-loan Dundee United youngster Aaron Murrell. Burton O’Brien is set to miss out though.
