Forfar hope to see off managerless Montrose and provide further confirmation that not only are they back to their best but they are an improved side.
A run of seven straight League Two wins was brought to a shuddering halt the last time the Loons played today’s hosts, who conjured up a 3-0 success.
That started a disappointing six-game winless run for Gary Bollan’s side.
However, successes over Stirling Albion and Berwick Rangers have ensured that they have remained at the top of the table.
Bollan wants their revival to continue at Links Park today, saying: “The last couple of games have been good as we have returned to the side that looked confident about winning games at the start of the season.
“We have won both at home and away, scored five goals and not conceded any so you could actually say that we have been stronger than we were when we won seven games in a row as we have kept clean sheets.
“That is something we were not doing earlier on.”
Bollan added: “Montrose ended our great start to the season and they deserved to do it on the day.
“They gave us a huge wake-up call in terms of what is needed in derby football.
“It is different from normal league games and the players they have handled it a lot better than the Forfar squad in that last game.
“Hopefully, we have learned from that and can go about things properly this time.”
Bollan also reckons that his side’s chances of winning have not been helped by Montrose’s dismissal of manager Paul Hegarty during the week.
He explained: “Paul has left, however they have a very experienced coach in charge with John Holt.
“He knows the high standards that Montrose can reach and will be out to see them reach them again.”
Andy Munro remains out for the Loons due to an ankle injury.
