Forfar boss Gary Bollan won’t be distracted by promotion rivals

Forfar manager Gary Bollan wants his players to maintain their tunnel vision.

The Station Park side’s lead at the top of League Two widened to eight points last weekend after their nearest challengers, Arbroath, lost at home to Annan.

But, with bottom of the table Cowdenbeath the visitors today, Bollan has insisted they will continue to avoid distractions.

“I didn’t get too excited when I heard that Arbroath had lost because what we do remains the most important thing,” he said.

“If we come off the park having won it does not matter what the other results are and I do not need to find out what they are.

“I will not be looking at other results if win this week, either. However, I am looking for a bit more free-flowing football than we had against Edinburgh City.”

He added: “We could not play our passing game and we had to battle. We will need that approach again as Cowdenbeath will be battling to get off bottom spot as they will not be happy at being there.”

Gavin Swankie misses out through suspension but Martyn Fotheringham returns after a ban.

Cowdenbeath manager Liam Fox is “still hurting” from the last-gasp defeat to Montrose seven days ago.

Ahead of their return to Angus, Fox said: “Going down at Montrose to a late goal is still hurting.

“It is not the first time losing late on has happened to us and I had hoped that it was out of our game.

“I was glad to learn that Gavin Swankie is banned for this game as he has grabbed the late winners in both games against Forfar.

“We now need to find a way to win against them.”

David Robertson left the club this week and Kenny Adamson is not yet ready to return following a back injury. Dale Carrick has been brought in from Livingston on loan and former Portadown striker Matthew Rooney will be included if international clearance is received in time.
