Arbroath boss Dick Campbell keen to move on after shock defeat

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has banished all thoughts of last week’s bitterly-disappointing defeat and instead is just fully focused on this afternoon’s game at Clyde.

The Red Lichties were firm favourites to beat Annan at Gayfield seven days ago but instead lost 2-1, with the result also bringing to an end a six-game unbeaten run.

Campbell bemoaned key decisions that went against his side and insisted the defeat was “daylight robbery”.

However, he is now keen to focus on Clyde as Arbroath look to ensure that the now eight-point gap between themselves and league leaders Forfar does not increase ahead of next week’s derby between the two Angus rivals.

The veteran manager said: “Nothing much went right for us last week against Annan but that is in the past and is finished with now.

“We will go to Clyde in a really positive frame of mind.

“Barry Ferguson has signed a few and they have been difficult games against them this season.

“We know it will be tough again, especially after they beat us 5-0 at the same venue the last time we met.

“We will look to make amends for that result and hopefully take all three points while the match against Forfar next week will take care of itself.

“We will be without Eddie Ferns at Clyde after he had to come off against Annan and needed 16 stitches in his leg.

“Jassem Sukar also had to come off but he will be fine although we will be without Ryan McCord who is suspended.”
