East Fife will be crowned League Two champions this afternoon if they defeat Clyde.
However manager Gary Naysmith is not treating the game any differently to the others his side have played this season.
The Bayview men sit seven points clear of second placed Annan and Naysmith does not want the significance of today’s game to impact on preparation and performance.
He said: “A point could be enough to win the league. At its worst, it would take us closer to the title and give us another two games, including one at home, to clinch things.
“However what is the point in changing our approach? We will go to Clyde and play our normal game.
“We have scored 61 goals this season by going out and looking to win games. We are a side that creates chances and have good strikers so we will carry on as we have done.”
Naysmith added: “In our last six games we have scored eight goals in the first 16 minutes.
“In the only game we did not score that early we had to wait until the 27th minute so the boys have been told to go out and start positively again.”
The former Scottish internationalist knows that the Bully Wee are playing for huge stakes as well.
He explained: “Clyde were our closest challengers until the end of March. They could have gone top, however a really heavy schedule of games worked against them and they have slipped back recently.
“They play in a different manner to us but they are very effective and I have a lot of respect for Barry Ferguson and his players.
“This is a big game for us but it is a big game for Clyde as well. This looks to be their last chance to win the title. Also with the four teams immediately below us separated by only one point they will not want to lose any ground in the play-off chase.
“No-one wants another team celebrating on their pitch. We will be facing very determined opponents but we will stick with what we know and trust.”
East Fife will be at full strength with Naysmith and Stevie Campbell both declaring themselves fit after picking up knocks in the 3-0 win over Montrose last weekend.
