Forfar manager Gary Bollan insists nobody at Station Park is feeling sorry for themselves after a poor run of form continued against Edinburgh City last weekend.
The late defeat extended a run of games without a win to five, and their lead over Angus rivals Arbroath at the top of League Two is now just three points.
But Bollan believes his squad are in a positive frame of mind for the trip to Elgin this afternoon.
He said: “The defeat from Edinburgh City hurt me and it hurt the players but we have been upbeat in training this week and we are ready to go again. This game cannot come quickly enough for us.
“We had chances when we were one goal ahead but never took them and we paid the price.
“We made two individual errors and that cost us the game. The benefit is that it highlighted to everyone that we need to do things right both at the back and in front of goal and if you don’t then you get punished.”
Bollan added: “Elgin are a good side and I am not letting their recent disappointing run of results change that opinion.
“We had planned to have them watched at Cowdenbeath but the problems at the Forth Road Bridge changed that however we know a good bit about them already.”
“They have given us three really hard games this season and all that separates us is one goal. We have won one game and the other two have been drawn so there is little between us.”
With nine points between the sides and eight games to go Bollan, reckons that his side will be facing determined hosts.
He explained: “They might see it as a bit of a last chance to pull us back in the title race and they will be fired up as a result. We have to accept that teams want to knock us off where we are and we have to handle that.”
The Station Park men head north with a fully fit and suspension-free squad, with Grant Adam set to return after missing out last weekend because of a ban.
