East Fife manager Darren Young believes they have one of toughest tasks

East Fife manager Darren Young reckons that his side are starting the season with one of the hardest fixtures possible.

Despite that, he is sure that they will create chances at St Johnstone.

Bayview boss Young said: “Going away from home to a Premiership side, and one who has just added a quality signing in Tony Watt, is a tough way to start the season.

“David McMillan has also been looking dangerous for them up front but we will go there with nothing to lose.

“I believe that we can cause them problems as we are a side who can create chances. We have not been ruthless enough when we have but we can create chances.”

“Whilst I know that St Johnstone will put us under pressure I am looking for us to take the game to them when we can.

“I want us to be on the front foot and if we can do that, and show a lot of solidity in defence, then you just never know how we will get on.”

Young has reminded his players how well they did in similar circumstances at Hearts a year ago.

He added:“We went to Tynecastle and were expected to be lambs to the slaughter.

“However, we created more chances than they did but they took one. With 10 minutes to go it was only 1-0 and we were well in the game but as we chased things we lost another couple.

“The way we played that day should give everyone confidence for this game. Our squad is not yet complete and I would like to add a couple of more bodies however that will not happen before kick-off in this one.”

Goalkeeper Craig McDowall as well as Mark Docherty and Scott Linton are out inured for the Bayview men.
