No fines for St Johnstone yellow card duo

St Johnstone pair Graham Cummins and Chris Kane are in the clear with their manager, and may yet have their yellow cards for simulation wiped out.

Perth boss Tommy Wright has confirmed that Saints have given notice to appeal both the bookings picked up in the match against Hearts on Saturday, and the two strikers won’t be getting club fines.

Wright had given himself some time to consider the incidents when he spoke after the match.

He said at the time: “I’m going to look at it. If I think the decisions are right the players will be fined and a line will be drawn under it. I’ll review the footage and on Monday and I’ll sit down with the players and they’ll get a fair hearing.”

Wright has subsequently come to the conclusion that neither was guilty of trying to con referee John Beaton and will be hoping that Kane and Cummins get their yellows rescinded, as Hearts’ Tony Watt did last week following an incident in their match against Hamilton.

“There is no reason for me to go fining the pair,” Wright said.

“There is certainly enough for us to give notice of appeal for both yellow cards.”
