St Johnstone have been handed an early clash with Ross County as both clubs bid to bounce straight back up to the Premiership.

Saints are in the second tier of Scottish football for the first time since 2009 and will open their campaign with a home game against Partick Thistle on August 2.

A trip to Dingwall follows, before Simo Valakari’s men play another two matches at McDiarmid Park to complete the August fixtures – Arbroath and Morton.

Optimistic Saints fans will find historic significance in the final match of the season.

They travel to Ayr United’s Somerset Park, where Alex Totten’s side clinched promotion back in 1990.
