St Johnstone boss, Simo Valakari, has decided NOT to recall Aaron Essel.
The Ghana international, who earned his first full cap last month, joined North Texas on loan in April to get regular first team football.
Saints had an end of June deadline for cutting that deal short.
And Valakari admitted last week that he would keep his options open until that point.
He has now made his mind up that the 19-year-old will stay in America until the end of the MLS NEXT Pro season in October.
Essel, who plays in midfield and at the back, is under contract with Saints until the summer of 2027.
But a six-figure transfer fee was negotiated into the loan agreement.
