St Johnstone’s sixth summer recruit, Matty Foulds, has declared it was a “no-brainer” to move to Perth.
The left-back is the second Harrogate Town player to head to McDiarmid Park in recent months, with Stephen Duke-McKenna arriving on loan in January.
Foulds’ transfer is a two-year deal and the versatile defender is looking forward to making his mark in Scottish football.
“It has been a quick turnaround since I first heard of the interest,” said the 26-year-old, who has also played for Everton, Como and Bradford City.
“I had chat with a few players who had been here before, and they spoke highly of the head coach and the club.
“It’s a big thing for myself and for my family.
“We chatted about it and we felt it was a no-brainer to bring everyone up. The time feels right.
“I have watched a lot of Scottish football and this is a new challenge for me.
“I’m really just looking forward to getting going now.
“There would have been disappointment at the end of last season but I know this is a great club with a great community.
“It’s exciting to be part of it.”
Versatile
Left-back will be Foulds’ main position but he has other defensive strings to his bow.
“First of all I’m a defender,” said the Yorkshireman.
“If you keep clean sheets, you set the platform for a successful season and always have a chance of winning games.
“As well as defending, I do like to get forward and put crosses into the box. I just want to help the team as much as possible.
“I can be versatile and can play left of a three, left of a two or left-back.”
