The big games keep coming for St Johnstone, and that’s just the way Drey Wright would want it.

Rangers and Celtic will be followed by a trip to face league leaders Hearts and the Perth winger believes Wednesday night’s encouraging performance in defeat to the Hoops will set them up well for their Tynecastle encounter.

“The results haven’t gone the way we wanted but the manager was looking for a reaction after Sunday and I think he got it against Celtic,” said Wright.

“We had a good shape and on the ball we were more positive. We’ll be looking to take that into another tough game at Hearts.

“I wanted to come up here to play in big games against big teams. It’s been an exciting challenge and I’ve enjoyed it.

“It was a tough shift for us all over the pitch in midweek. Celtic have got class players. Just because they hadn’t got off to as good a start as they would have hoped for it doesn’t take away their ability and their movement off the ball.

“But everyone has played three games in a week before. You adjust your training and we’ll be ready to go.”

He added: “Hearts are in brilliant form. That’s why they’re top of the league. But we’ll be looking to cause them problems.

“Livingston showed what can be done and we’ll be going there with confidence as well.

“I’ve heard it’s a good stadium to play in.”

Wright will be coming up against a familiar opponent today.

“I know Olly Lee,” he explained.

“He was on trial at Colchester a couple of years ago and I’ve played him a few times since. He went to Luton, did well there and he’s ended up getting a good move to Hearts.

“He’s made a good impact.”
