Adele Roberts said she was “amazed” she lasted even 14 days in the jungle, after becoming the first contestant to leave I’m A Celebrity following a public vote.

Arriving unannounced in the jungle campsite, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly called the camp members together for the first eviction.

Both Roberts and Nadine Coyle were told they were at risk of elimination, before Ant and Dec revealed Roberts would be the first to go.

The 11 other contestants rushed to embrace the Radio 1 DJ and former Big Brother contestant before she made her way out of the campsite with Ant and Dec, where she was reunited with her girlfriend, who she told: “I love you – I missed you so much.”

Speaking afterwards, she said: “I am just amazed that I lasted that long. I’m just so glad I finished my time in the jungle without saying I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! because I thought I was going to say it so many times. At least I am first at something.”

Asked why she signed up, she said: “Just to challenge myself and stop being scared of doing things.”

Due to what Ant and Dec called a “wording error” on the show’s app, only votes made by phone counted towards the result.

The night before, around the campfire, Roberts had spoken of what she would miss most about the jungle if she was first to go.

She said the campsite had made her feel included, and she had learnt she is stronger than she first thought.

She said she and Caitlyn Jenner had been “on the same page” from the beginning, because they were part of the LGBT community.

She said she was “happy for anyone to win it” then added: “But Nadine.”

James Haskell, Myles Stephenson and Ian Wright were immune from the public vote, after managing to become un-cursed by winning the day’s Bushtucker Trials.

Friday’s episode of the ITV show saw the 12 celebrities face two stomach-churning challenges – the Sickening Cinema and the Final Reckoning.

Cliff Parisi did not take part in the first challenge of the day due to medical reasons, and Haskell was nominated by Parisi to take part on his behalf.

The Sickening Cinema saw the stars drink pints of blended pig brains, fermented duck eggs, lamb testicles and pig anus.

In the Final Reckoning the celebrities sat in bathtubs which slowly filled with blood as they tried to fill clear tubes with the liquid.
