The latest sale at a Perth auction house exceeded expectations, with several items fetching thousands of pounds above valuation.
Two star lots at Lindsay Burns and Company were 19th century Chinese gouache paintings of notable historic figures Keying and Hou Qua both valued at between £800 to £1200.
When the hammer came down the image of Hou Qua, a merchant who amassed a great fortune, attracted bids up to £15,000, while the painting of Keying fetched £9200.
Both items came from the collection of a private vendor in Perthshire and, according to auctioneer Nick Burns attracted a lot of interest from overseas especially China and Hong Kong.
Other lots that proved popular included a white jade snuff bottle that sold for £4000 and a pair of 19th century Canton famille rose vases.
In other areas of the sale, an early Paul Henry oil painting sold for £34,000.
