Peter Pan sculpture inspired by love of books to add ‘festive fairy dust’ to House of Dun event

A book sculpture inspired by Angus literary legend JM Barrie goes on tour this weekend.

The Peter Pan-inspired sculpture was made by the Mystery Book Sculptor and is the fourth of five commissioned by the Scottish Book Trust to celebrate the first Book Week Scotland.

It was unveiled at JM Barrie’s Birthplace in Kirriemuir last week after an online treasure hunt was won by Dundee man Steve Ryan.

Entry requirements at the House of Dun will not be so stringent this weekend the sculpture will be on show in the Grand Saloon.

John McKenna, property manager for both JM Barrie’s Birthplace and the House of Dun, said: ”This weekend, we are expecting a packed house as our Christmas celebrations are in full swing.

”This fabulous and intricate sculpture will add even more festive fairy dust to proceedings.”

Scottish Book Trust chief executive Marc Lambert said: ”These unique pieces of art, inspired as they are by a love of books, reading and libraries, are to be shared in the way stories are.

”I am delighted we are able to display the Peter Pan sculpture at the House of Dun.”

The sculpture will be on display tomorrow and Sunday from 11am until 4pm. Entry to the house costs £1 for adults and £5 for children, who will receive a gift.
