Terror ‘Neath The Tay emerges from its lair

Just six copies sold will be enough to recoup the amount that was spent on the making of new Dundee DVD Terror ‘Neath The Tay, which is launched this week.

The film, the brainchild of Tay FM breakfast show presenter Stuart Webster, was made for just £30 last year after Stuart claimed he could out-budget horror flick Colin, which was a big hit at the Cannes Film Festival and cost £45.

Stuart produced his own 40-minute horror film for free, raising money for Cash For Kids in the process.

He announced the challenge live on air that he was looking for a full script, director, professional film company, make-up artist and cast.

The listeners came up with everything he needed.

After a premiere at Dundee’s Odeon Cinema in November, it was decided to release the film on DVD.

For those who didn’t catch it at the cinema, Terror ‘Neath the Tay is written and directed by Kyle Titterton and is about a giant mutated octopus that emerges from the River Tay to destroy Dundee.

Stuart said, “I don’t want to spoil the story but I can tell you that two maverick DJs are involved in the plot.

“The movie was filmed at various locations throughout Tayside and Fife, involving listeners as extras, Dundee Art College animators and local bands who provided the soundtrack all at no cost.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to all those involved for making this happen.”

He added, “We will be producing a sequel to the movie this summer titled Journey to the Centre of the Tay.”

The DVD costs £5 plus postage, with the full £5 going to Cash For Kids.
