Cohort Studios releasing another PlayStation Network game despite impending closure

A Dundee video games developer has announced the release of its second game a month after it announced it was being forced to close down.

Cohort Studios announced last month that it was to close completely with the loss of 25 jobs. The company had already been forced to lay off 27 staff last summer.

Despite the impending shutdown of the firm, Cohort Studios has been able to press ahead with the release of two games it has been working on.

The first of these to be announced, Me Monstar: Hear Me Roar, will be released when Sony restores the PlayStation Network which was closed down earlier this month following a massive security breach.

The second title, called Cohort Chess, will also be released through the PlayStation store for the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable.

Cohort chief executive Lol Scragg said, “We have always been focused on providing gaming experiences that appeal to a wide audience and are accessible for players of different skill levels.

“Following the earlier announcement of unfortunate redundancies, we thought we would do our best to get this second title released before we closed the office.

“Cohort Chess will be a fine example of such a quality title, with endless hours of gameplay and an impressive look that we have come to expect from our studios.”
