In The Doghouse with Goldie Lookin’ Chain

In The Doghouse with Goldie Lookin’ Chain

A bunch of Welsh nutters, possibly up to nine of them, are heading our way tonight in the eccentric form of Goldie Lookin’ Chain.

The comedic rappers drop into The Doghouse for what’s guaranteed to be another riotous night.

What else can you expect from a group of personalities called Eggsy, Adam Hussein, Mystikal, Hats, Dipper Nan, MC Flatpress and Grayham the Bear?

But with six top-40 singles and two top-20 albums, Goldie Lookin’ Chain obviously can’t be dismissed as a novelty act with their humorous and satirical music and controversial, often explicit lyrics.

After breakthrough hit Guns Don’t Kill People, Rappers Do came the pub singalong Your Mother’s Got A Penis and the wonderful Your Missus Is A Nutter, which they famously dedicated to David Beckham at a live concert in Wales, much to Beck’s amusement but the local mayor’s distress!

Coming out of Newport, Gwent, word of mouth in and around Le Pub and the spread of MP3s on the net meant the GLC’s reputation grew steadily. Word soon spread beyond the Welsh valleys and, despite varied fortunes over the last few years, they are now on something of a revival.

Asked what they were up to this week, they replied, mystically, “We’re on our way down to the pub to discuss a set list for Thursday’s gig in Dundee come to the show, it’s gonna be rock hard!”

Tickets are £15 in advance, or £10 for Doghouse members. Otherwise it’s £17 on the door. It’s an over-14s, gig and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Support comes from Hanney & Hey Esse and doors open at 7.30pm.
