Guy Fawkes revellers asked to look out for hedgehogs

With Guy Fawkes night this week, people planning to celebrate with a bonfire are urged to watch out for hedgehogs.
The appeal has been issued by Sandy Boyd, the founder of the Wormit Hedgehog Care Centre, who is caring for four orphaned hoglets rescued after an accident with a fork-lift at Lintrathen sawmills.
The mother had built a nest among wood needed for a job she died, but the hoglets were taken to the centre.
They only weighed 138 to 147 grams and were roughly the size of a tennis ball but thanks to the centre they are all now gaining weight.
Mr Boyd said, “Hedgehogs will move in to the wood piles because they are dry.
“This happens especially after it has been raining, so people should check beforehand.”
