A Dundee cerebral palsy sufferer has completed a courageous 50-yard fund-raising walk.
Victoria Campbell (21) from Charleston was born with cerebral palsy and requires almost constant care.
Miss Campbell, who has a tracheotomy to help her breathe, has moved into her own home, where she gets 14 hour-a-day support from carers.
She organised the sponsored walk, which took place at the Lynch Sports Centre in South Road on Thursday, to raise funds for a Pacer walking frame.
The frame will further increase Victoria’s mobility and independence.
Her physiotherapist Yvonne Miskell said, “I’ve known Victoria since she was two years old.
“I suggested she try the walking frame and a couple of weeks’ use on a temporary one made all the difference not just physically but mentally as well.
“The walking frame gets Victoria on her feet using her muscles and weight bearing, which reduces osteoporosis, while also giving her a whole new freedom.
“Once she gets a permanent frame she will be able to use it everyday and take it wherever she goes.”
Miss Campbell raised £240 from the walk, which puts her total at just over £300 and needs a further £1200 to purchase the frame.
