A team of six soldiers from The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS) have completed a gruelling 1750-mile charity cycle today.
The group have travelled through some of Europe’s toughest terrain to raise money for four service charities Help for Heroes, Erskine House, The Royal Regiment of Scotland Association and The Black Watch Association.
Speaking on Twitter this morning, the team confirmed they had made it back to Edinburgh and have raised over £25,500. They are planning a celebratory ride up the Royal Mile to cap their achievement.
The challenge Exercise Tartan Casino began on March 18 when the team flew out to Monte Cassino in Italy to start their 14-day trip. They have travelled through Italy, Switzerland, France and the UK, passing through Rome, Paris and London.
Event leader and organiser Lieutenant Bobby Stuart said, “Every day of the journey has been a challenge but the determination and drive of everyone involved got us through it. We were cycling on average 125 miles a day and it was no easy feat.”You can find out more about their challenge, and donate, by visiting www.tartancassino.com
