Rising fuel costs cause Stagecoach to increase ticket prices
ByNews reporter
Stagecoach has said that it has been forced to increase bus fares in Fife and Perth from May as a result of rising costs.
The company said that it faces an increase of 9% on its fuel bill, costing an extra £151,000 per year, in addition to higher costs for pay and energy bills.
As a result, from May 2, single and return fares will increase by an average of 3%, while Megarider tickets will increase by around 5%.
The Tayside Megarider ticket boundaries will, however, be extended to allow travel into Fife on services 35, 36 and 56 and into Stirling on services 19 and 47, as well as throughout Dundee and Angus, Perth and Kinross.
The boundaries for the Fife Megarider ticket renamed Fife Megarider+ will be extended to allow a week’s unlimited travel throughout Fife, Kinross, Clackmannanshire, Stirling, Falkirk, Edinburgh and services into Dundee and Ninewells Hospital for £24.
