Stagecoach passengers face being hit in the pocket again, just two months after the company announced a fresh hike in prices for its regular customers.
Commuter card prices will rise next month in Dundee, Perthshire and Angus.
The company said the increase was the result of a 9% rise in its fuel bill, which will cost it an extra £298,000 a year.
A commuter card from Arbroath to Dundee will now cost £30 per week and £90 for a four-week pass. The same card from Dundee to Forfar will cost £28 per week and £80 for four weeks.
Stagecoach East Scotland managing director Charlie Mullen said all other fares in the region including single and return tickets would remain unchanged.
He said, “While the cost of travelling by car has rocketed, Stagecoach continues to offer value for money public transport and the price of the multi-journey tickets used by the vast majority of our fare-paying customers will stay the same.”
Mr Mullen said passengers could save money by using other multi-journey options.
Bus passengers in Dundee have had to fork out for a wave of ticket price increases in recent months. National Express Dundee introduced price rises as high as 38% on some routes last December.
