Golf fans and celeb-spotters alike flocked to Carnoustie Golf Links as the Alfred Dunhill Cup got under way.
The pro-am tournament saw fans queuing up to get photographs taken with famous faces such as Sir Steve Redgrave, ”Blade Runner” Oscar Pistorius, Michael Phelps and Bill Murray.
Fans also mobbed European Ryder Cup heroes Martin Kaymer, Paul Lawrie and Peter Hanson.
Hollywood star Bill Murray teamed up with English professional David Howell in a fourball with US Ryder Cup star Dustin Johnson and his brother Austin Johnson.
Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius played with European Ryder Cup vice-captain Paul McGinley, while Michael Phelps, the most successful Olympian of all time, teamed up with Paul Casey.
Angus provost Helen Oswald said: ”There’s an added enthusiasm to come to Carnoustie and watch the golf with the combination of the beautiful weather and the Ryder Cup triumph.
”I’m hoping that people will turn out in large numbers this week and hopefully that will also have an impact on the retail and accommodation providers in the town.”
Entrance will be free at all three courses (Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and St Andrews), while £15 (concessionary £10) will be charged for the final day over the Old Course on Sunday.
