Council officials in Fife have told their counterparts across the Tay they have no formal objections to plans for a renewable energy plant in the port of Dundee.
However, they have asked for more clarity from their Dundee City Council neighbours about the proposals citing a number of concerns they have about how the project will work in practice.
Forth Energy is pressing ahead with its plans for the biomass plant and at least 85% of its fuel is expected to be delivered by ship.
In a letter to Dundee City Council, Fife Council development manager Jim Birrell said Fife supports the use of sustainably sourced biomass and considers the location on Dundee’s waterfront is a “suitable and appropriate” venue for the proposed facilities.
Nevertheless, Mr Birrell highlighted the committee’s fears over how the near 12,000 tonnes of ash per year to be generated from the site will be disposed of.
