A flashmob organised by Abertay’s Save the Children Society took over the Overgate in Dundee on Saturday.
Chris Murdock, head of the group, said: “The flashmob went well Overgate was fairly busy and we attracted a decent crowd to support us.
“It was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to promote the positive work of Save the Children.
“We’re an active student group from Abertay University that’s been going for a few years and we’ve managed to raise just over £2,200 in the last year.
“We have been very productive in our fundraising efforts.
“We collected donations at football matches, T in the Park, shopping centres and bake sales. We held a film evening and showed popular cult movies like Rocky Horror and Repo.
“We have also collected at bonfire evenings, offered Christmas wrapping for a donation, taken part in fun runs and hope to hold a talent contest very soon.”
Money raised locally goes to Save the Children to help with building classrooms in the developing world.
Save the Children works in 120 different countries and provides for the basic needs of children in poverty as well as dealing with emergencies and wars.
The charity also lobbies and runs petition campaigns to help children in the developing world.
