Government to look at Angus mum’s call for restraint changes
ByThe Courier Reporter
An Angus mum’s petition calling for new rules on the way disabled children are restrained in schools is to be considered by the Scottish Government.
Beth Morrison, of Monifieth, gathered a 7,000-signature petition and has been backed by several high-profile organisations.
Earlier this year she presented her case at Holyrood calling for national guidelines to be revised.
Beth is among a number of parents who raised concerns about restraint methods at Dundee’s Kingspark School, although an investigation found “no cause for concern”.
A spokeswoman confirmed the petitions committee will write to the Scottish Government.
