Easthaven ready for day of judgment as Beautiful Scotland judges arrive
ByThe Courier Reporter
An Angus fishing village is preparing for its day of judgment in the Beautiful Scotland campaign.
Easthaven Heritage and Garden Group was being judged in the 2015 competition that attracts the interest of hundreds of groups and communities each year.
Judges Sandy Scott and John MacLennon visited Easthaven to examine horticultural achievement, community participation and environmental responsibility.
Winning communities will be presented with their awards at a ceremony in September and the overall winner receives the sought after Rosebowl Trophy.
A selection of the winning communities are then nominated for entry into the 2016 RHS Britain in Bloom final.
Achievements in 2015 include the clearing of a derelict area and the creation of a wildlife garden and a fisherman’s garden.
In addition, the head of the cycle path has been transformed with new planting and the building of a cairn to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the national cycle route.
