An Angus school received a visit from a Royal Navy helicopter to mark the decommissioning of a historic ship.
Montrose Academy welcomed a Lynx helicopter from HMS Edinburgh, the navy’s largest Type 42 destroyer.
The Royal Navy chose four schools in Scotland to be visited by the flight crew and a contingent from the vessel, ahead of its last trip in June.
Depute head teacher Bruce Pandrich said: “Montrose Academy pupils and staff are proud and honoured to be chosen as one of only four schools, including Perth Academy, Mearns Academy and Gordonstoun, to receive a visit from HMS Edinburgh’s crew as part of the ship’s farewell tour.”
Head teacher Dr John Cavanagh also expressed his gratitude to the commander and crew of HMS Edinburgh for the honour.
