The condition of an Angus schoolgirl who nearly drowned is improving but she is still seriously ill, police said yesterday.
The 13-year-old was rescued from the water after getting into trouble around 200 yards from the shore at Carnoustie on April 8.
Emergency services raced to the scene at around 8.30pm following the incident.
Crew members on board the RNLI’s inshore lifeboat from Arbroath Lifeboat Station pulled her from the water and transferred her to awaiting paramedics on the shore.
Teenager Fergus Lyon waded into the water in a bid to rescue the girl but was unable to pull her back on to the beach.
His friend Corey Thoms alerted emergency services from the shore.
