A Montrose man who admitted assaulting his partner before threatening police and resisting arrest has been fined £1,350.
Gary Lamb, 30, of Condor Crescent, admitted assaulting the woman, by repeatedly pushing her and grabbing her by the hair to her injury.
He also pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive way, shouting and swearing at his partner and calling her offensive names.
Lamb also admitted being threatening and abusive to police officers, shouting and swearing at them and threatening them with violence, as well as resisting arrest.
The court heard Lamb’s partner had been on a night out with her cousin and had stayed overnight at a friend’s house.
When she returned the following day, he was unhappy at what had happened and went out drinking.
He returned later drunk and had facial injuries.
Then he assaulted her, with depute fiscal Jill Drummond saying the woman was “in fear of her life”.
She called to her cousin, who was at the address, to call the police.
She did and when officers arrived the accused became aggressive with them and had to be restrained, handcuffed and detained.
The offshore worker had pulled hair from his partner’s scalp in the attack.
Defence agent Nick Markowski said Lamb wanted to apologise publicly to his partner, police officers and others who were involved.
The accused had consumed “a fair amount of alcohol” before being head-butted in the pub where he was drinking.
“He accepts he was wrong drinking.
“He was angry, grabbed her by the hair and pushed her.
“When the police arrived, his dander was up, he was full of drink and he threatened the police and was taken away.”
