The family of an Angus girl who was left in a coma during a Spanish holiday are hoping she will be discharged from hospital next month.
Cally Simpson was pulled unconscious from a pool at the Villa Marina resort in Salou on June 23 last year.
She was in a coma as she stayed in a number of Spanish hospitals before flying back to Scotland for treatment in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and then Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
She emerged from the coma last year under the supervision of doctors who slowly reduced her medication.
Now her parents, Kate Miller and Steven Simpson, who both live in Arbroath, are keeping their fingers crossed that the youngster will move into a new home with her mother next month, which they describe as “exciting”.
Updating their thousands of supporters on the Saving Cally Simpson Facebook page, the family wrote: “Super Cally is doing absolutely amazing.
“It’s been a long hard road, but we have our last discharge meeting at Ninewells on the 24th.
“Then her discharge date is the 1st May.
“It’s super exciting and she has also been home for a day visit with mummy to her new house.
“Thanks to everyone for all the support and especially to the lovely people who helped sort her new house and make it perfect for her coming home.”
In January it was revealed that Cally was enjoying attending nursery at Armitstead Child Care Development Centre in Dundee twice a week.
She suffered a fractured knee due to intense physiotherapy earlier this year but made a quick recovery.
