Travellers who claimed they were attacked while camping in Dundee have now left the site abandoning two caravans in a field.
The group were pitched up at Whitfield Loan last week until, they said, youths pelted them with stones and threatened to burn them out.
With two of the women in the group pregnant, the Travellers had said they would stay near Dundee medical facilities until the babies were born and vaccinated.
But just two caravans which appeared to be abandoned were spotted in a field by Girvan Gardens on Friday.
Before moving to Whitfield, they had been living at the council’s official campsite near Tealing.
But the group was evicted early last week in a dispute over rent arrears.
A spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland attended at 8.30pm at Whitfield Loan on Thursday January 8, following reports that someone had tried to set a dog bin alight. Inquiries are still continuing and anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101.”
A council spokeswoman said: “We are currently assessing the situation.”
