Police are urging residents to be vigilant after bogus workmen made off with a four-figure sum in Angus.
The trio went to an address on Bishoploch Road, Arbroath, at about 11am on Tuesday and fraudulently obtained the cash after telling the occupants their roof needed repaired.
On receiving the cash, the men said they would return to carry out the work but failed to do so.
The first man is described as between 40 to 45, about 5ft 10in, of heavy build, with fair hair and was wearing a grey woollen hat, dark anorak and grey jogging bottoms.
The second man is described as 35 to 40, of heavy build, with short black hair and was wearing a dark jacket, navy jeans and dark trainers.
The third man is described as in his early twenties, about 5ft 6in, of slim build, with short fair hair and was wearing a dark rain coat, blue jeans and trainers.
On Southampton Road, Broughty Ferry, two men cold-called at an address on the same day at about 10.30am.
They offered to carry out roof repairs at the property and asked the occupier for a substantial sum of money in cash.
The roof did not need repairs to be made and a family member intervened, causing the men to leave.
The suspicious circumstances were then reported to police.
The men were between 30 and 40, one of whom was about 5ft 6in and was wearing a grey fleece. The other man was described as heavy build.
