Driver threatened to “batter” Lochee parking warden

A Dundee man threatened to “batter” a parking warden who asked him to move his car from a Lochee loading bay, the city’s sheriff court has heard.
John Rowlands, 27, of Callender Gardens, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in Lochee High Street on May 6 while on bail.
Depute fiscal Mohammed Siddique told the court: “At around 11.30am the warden’s attention was drawn to a car parked in a loading bay. The driver was on a mobile phone but was not loading or unloading and was asked to move.
“The accused told the warden: ‘I can’t use my phone on the road. The police will give me points’.” Rowlands then began to threaten the warden, warning him: “You had better not give me a ticket. I know where you live. I’ll batter you.”
Sheriff Hughes deferred sentence until August 14 for Rowlands to appear in the dock.
