Dundee is recognised as one of the UK's hot spots for video games development.

The Dundee public are being invited to attend when a House of Commons select committee arrives in the city later this month.

The Scottish Affairs Select Committee will be at Abertay University on October 19 to hold an evidence session on creative industries in Scotland, with the Dundee event taking a special look at the video games industry and TV.

Witnesses will include Brian Baglow of the Scottish Games Network, Jo Twist of video games industry body Tiga, BBC Scotland director Ken MacQuarrie, Channel 4’s Ian Mackenzie and Alan Clements and Bobby Hain from stv.

A spokesman said: “This is an opportunity to see a House of Commons select committee in action, taking evidence for its current inquiry into the creative industries in Scotland.

“The committee is looking at the contribution of the creative industries in Scotland to employment and the economy, and considering how UK policy in areas such as tax relief and intellectual property rights affects these industries.”

The session is being held in the Kydd Building at Abertay University on October 19, from 1.15pm-3.30pm.

It is free to attend, with tickets allocated on a first come, first served basis.
