Discount retailer Home Bargains opened its first outlet in Dundee on Saturday, having invested £500,000 in taking over the former Woolworths premises in the Wellgate Centre and creating 30 jobs.
The Merseyside-based, family-owned company has over 200 UK stores including 17 in Scotland.
It acquired 30 former Woolworths stores when the chain collapsed last year.
Despite the economic downturn, the Wellgate has been able to fill a substantial amount of its vacant space in recent months, with lettings to Yeomans Outdoor Leisure, Pound Mart, and shoe shop Lucarno.
