Party planners across Dundee are being urged to apply to the City Council’s Hogmanay Celebrations Grant Scheme before the deadline for applications closes.
The fund is used to help community groups or cultural organisations bring 2016 in with style by offering grants from the local authority’s common good fund.
Applications for funding need to be in by Wednesday September 30.
Last year, more than £7,900 was awarded, with more than 1,200 people benefiting from the grant scheme.
Central Baptist Church was just one of the successful applicants, using the money to organise a party for all ages.
Organiser Colin Watson said: “The awarding of money, to support grass roots events, allows community groups to best meet the needs and wishes of many ordinary citizens. We used the money to buy food, soft drinks and party accessories.
“Our programme of ceilidh dancing mixed with traditional and more innovative games meant there was something for everyone.”
Grants will range from £500 to £3,000, and the celebrations do not have to be on Hogmanay itself, but can take place between December 30 and January 3.
Guidelines and applications can be found at www.dundeecity.gov.uk/hogmanay.
Plans for a major Hogmanay event to usher in 2016 in Dundee collapsed in August.
Organisers had hoped to stage a large-scale event in the City Square, Baxter Park or Camperdown Park.
However, the idea was dropped when it emerged how expensive it would be to stage such an event in the city.
