A woman whose dog was hurt in a Dundee park fears the injury was caused by an illegal snare. Kirsten Oostindie, 41, was walking her jack russell Maizi in Drumgeith Park when she heard the dog yelp in pain. She found Maizi slashed across her back paw, by what is believed to be a snare. Having been given painkillers and antibiotics, Maizi is now on the road to recovery. At first thinking that Maizi’s yelps were due to being caught in shrubbery, Kirsten was shocked to see the slash, reporting it to police the next day. She was told that the area had had problems with snares and that Maizi was saved from serious injury by the implement’s poor quality Members of the public are urged to be aware of snares, and to call the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999 if they have any concerns about illegal snares.
