A quiz held in Edinburgh last Thursday night to help Motor Neurone Disease (MND) sufferer Gordon Aikman raise money to fund a cure into the disease has raised £6,500.
Over200 people packed into the capital’s Ghillie Dhu to take part in the “New Year’s Quiz-olution” event.
Thousands was raised through amazing raffle and auction prizes including a signed Scotland rugby shirt, a bottle of whisky signed by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and a signed copy of TV chef Tom Kitchin’s cookbook.
Gordon, from Kirkcaldy, said: “It was great to see so many people from across Edinburgh and further afield come out to support Gordon’s Fightback.
“I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who put the night together, came and donated.
“Every pound raised is one step closer to finding a cure for this terrible disease.
“The people at last night’s quiz have done their bit, now it’s time for the UK political parties to commit to doubling MND research funding. The more we invest, the quicker we will find a cure.
“It’ll be too late for me, but we can and we must find a cure for future generations.”
The event was put together by a group of Gordon’s friends.
