‘No criminality’ in patient incident at Victoria Hospital

NHS Fife is investigating an incident involving two patients at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
The Scottish Sun reported that a patient allegedly climbed into an elderly cancer sufferer’s bed and assaulted him.
Police were called after another patient raised the alarm.
A police spokesman said: “Police in Fife were notified of an incident at a premises on Hayfield Road involving two men, which took place on Monday September 21.
“Subsequent enquiries established no criminality.”
NHS Fife said they have launched an investigation.
Professor Scott McLean, chief operating officer for acute services, said: “We are currently investigating an incident which took place at the Victoria Hospital on the 21st of September and resulted in the police attending the site.
“We have spoken to those concerned and will be making no further comment on this matter.”
