An 89-year-old Montrose woman was robbed in her own home by thieves who conned their way into her kitchen.
Janet Bateman believed that she was letting a man in to get water for his car when she answered the door to her home in Cairnwell Crescent around 3.30pm on Wednesday.
While showing him into the kitchen, an accomplice snuck into the living room and made off with a tan leather shoulder bag.
Mrs Bateman contacted police after noticing the bag had been lifted from a chair.
Far from being upset by the incident, she shrugged off her experience, claiming she was “too old to be shaken up.”
Mrs Bateman said, “Nobody has taken anything of any value and I wasn’t harmed.
“I have been through the war and I was in London during the Blitz.”
She added, “You learn in life that if something is going to happen then it will happen and you don’t get all het up about it.
“There are a lot of worse things going on in the world just now.”
The first man is described as 5ft 4ins, in his mid-30s with fair hair and wearing a beige jacket and denim jeans.
He was carrying a green petrol can.
The second man is believed to be around 5ft 10ins and was wearing a navy blue woollen tammy and black boots.
