King Robert the Bruce was among those this week taking a closer look at images of Arbroath which are brightening up the town’s railway station.
On Wednesday, the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath, costumed members of Arbroath Abbey Timethemes joined Professor Jan McDonald to inspect the gallery.
Drawings, paintings and collages were created by P3-7 classes at Hayshead, Inverbrothock, Ladyloan, Muirfield, St Thomas and Timmergreen schools.
The images include Arbroath Abbey, the Signal Tower of the Bell Rock lighthouse, the harbour, Keptie Pond and Kerr’s Miniature Railway.
The display is now on permanent display at the station and recalls the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s year-long programme of educational activities in Arbroath.
Professor Jan McDonald, the society’s former vice-president, said, “I think the images on display are brilliant. The way they have been put up makes them much more accessible and I think it shows there is a vibrant, young community with a passion for the town.
“It brightens up the station and puts a smile on your face.”
Seasonal floral displays from Angus College horticultural students have also enhanced the look of the station.
